The formula is simple: if you want to make more money and advance your career, focus on becoming more valuable to the marketplace. Yet for many, this simple truth slips through their fingers.

Commit to Lifelong Education

The world doesn’t stop spinning, and progress never slows down. Warren Buffet has called continuous learning the best investment you can make. Commit to your personal education—not just for credentials, but for growth, perspective, and the skills that keep you relevant in a shifting marketplace.

Lifelong learners never become obsolete.

Focus on Solving Problems (and Puzzles)

Here’s the second key: focus on solving problems. Owning a home isn’t a problem, but helping a client find the right home within their needs, budget, and desires can feel like solving a puzzle. That’s what makes a great salesperson invaluable.

I remember realizing something important as a business owner: I didn’t need employees to simply point out problems—I could do that myself. What I needed most were people who could solve problems. Those were the ones who became indispensable.

The same principle applies to every career path. The bigger and more creatively you solve problems (or puzzles), the more the marketplace values you.
