I recently spoke with a congressman…

who represents the district I used to live in. During our conversation, he said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“There has never been a period in history that offers more opportunity than today.”

At first, that might be hard to believe. The world feels chaotic. Headlines are heavy. We’re reminded daily of conflict and uncertainty. But the more I sat with that statement, the more it rang true. Despite the noise, this really is the greatest time to rise, grow, and succeed—if you’re willing to think differently, work intentionally, and keep growing.

Complaining Won’t Change the Future

My mentor Jim Rohn used to warn against blaming circumstances for results—whether it’s the economy, interest rates, politics, or the people around you.

“Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better.”

In every environment, some people will succeed, some will fail, and sadly, some won’t even try. Today, with so many tools and so much knowledge within reach, the gap between those who grow and those who give up can widen fast. You can’t control the world—but you can control your mindset, effort, and the principles you live by.

Learning from the Best Conversations of Our Time

One of the most thought-provoking shows I follow is the All-In Podcast with David Sacks, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Friedberg. You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

These four friends—builders, investors, and operators—meet weekly to debate the biggest topics shaping business, technology, and society. They don’t always agree, which is exactly why their conversations are valuable: they’re thoughtful, challenging, and packed with insight.

Their episodes on artificial intelligence have especially stayed with me. They explore both the opportunity and the threat—how AI is changing how we live and work, and what that means for the future. Underneath it all is a common thread: hope. Those who learn, adapt, and participate in innovation will win. Those who resist, complain, or cling to the past will fall behind.

A Bigger Perspective

Let’s step back. No amount of progress will make the world perfect—and that’s okay. Most of us have seen the beauty and the brokenness sit side by side. The good and the hard show up in our work, our families, and even within ourselves.

Our challenge—and our privilege—is to bring light wherever we are. To lift people up. To leave things a little better than we found them. That’s purpose in action: bringing something good, lasting, and true into every space we touch. It’s not about perfection; it’s about progress. And it starts with each of us choosing to grow.

At Time Tested Mastery, my mission is to help you grow—personally, professionally, and spiritually. I teach the tools, habits, and mindset that stand the test of time—the same principles that helped me build a career, lead others, and overcome adversity.

If you’re just starting out—or you’re ready for your next level—this is your time. Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better. Then do the work that makes it so.
