for a Life Worth Living

Many people wonder what it takes to be successful. Those who are truly interested observe others they believe have achieved success and try to mimic them. They take classes, attend seminars, read books, listen to podcasts, and gather insights from wherever they can.

Success, however, is not a straight line—it’s a journey, a quest. And before you even begin, you must answer a fundamental question: What is success? How do you define it? How do you measure it?

We’re often introduced to exercises like goal setting, evaluating priorities, mastering time management, and adopting productivity techniques—all designed to help us perform at a higher level. But today, I want to approach this topic differently.

The Three Pillars: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual

We are made up of three distinct yet intertwined parts: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual.

  • We are physical beings—we have a body, and our health determines our ability to perform.
  • We have an intellect—a mind capable of thought, learning, and growth.
  • We are spiritual beings—our emotions, beliefs, and internal alignment guide our purpose.

Each of these areas demands our attention if we want to achieve peak performance and extraordinary success.

Few would argue that poor physical health—neglecting exercise, eating junk, and ignoring our body’s needs—leads to lower energy, focus, and endurance.

Likewise, if we allow our minds to atrophy—consuming only trashy entertainment or failing to keep up with new ideas and skills—we fall behind. Lifelong learning isn’t optional for high achievers.

Spiritual health can be harder to define, but I see it as internal integrity—a wholeness where what we believe, what we want, and how we act are aligned. Without that congruence, something always feels off.

If we want real success, we have to develop all three areas.

My 90-Minute Daily Success Habit

I’ve built a habit that I’ve followed almost every day for 14 years. I call it my “90-Minute Design for a Life Worth Living.”

Every morning, I dedicate 90 minutes to a combination of the following:

  • Feeding my mind – Reading quality books or listening to podcasts.
  • Journaling – Writing three pages by hand.
  • Reflection – A time for prayer and meditation.

1. Feeding My Mind

I make sure I’m putting good information into my mind every single day. My reading and podcasts vary, but some staples include:

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear
  • Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
  • 12-step recovery literature
  • Sacred scripture
  • One of my favorite novels (Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand)

2. Journaling: Three Pages a Day

This habit comes from The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. She recommends writing three pages by hand every morning—no filters, no structure, just writing.

3. Prayer & Meditation

As a believer, I finish my morning routine with a short time of prayer and meditation.

  • Prayer is me speaking—verbalizing what’s on my heart.
  • Meditation is me listening—creating space to receive clarity.

This practice grounds me. It keeps me aligned with my values and purpose. The result? Decision-making is faster, clearer, and aligned with my purpose—not dictated by the expectations of others.

What About You?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • Do you have a success routine?
  • Do you have a plan for your life?
  • What are you doing daily to move forward?

Let’s talk about it!
